Akhenaten’s breathing — Nefertiti’s breath

October 8, 2010

I breath the sweet breath
which comes forth from thy mouth
I behold thy beauty every day
it is my desire
that I may be rejuvenated
with life through love of thee.

(love poem found in a royal mummy, Amarna period. Translated by Sir Alan Gardiner. featured in “Akhnaten” an opera by Philip Glass. Act2, Scene7)

Akhnaten 1369-1332BCE
(wife) Nefertiti  1370-1330BCE
